 I felt very comfortable discussing the issues with you and I would say your demeanour was mostly key to this.   You have a warm, relaxed approach that helps to establish the right tone.  In particular, I found the way you challenged my conceptions about myself very helpful.

If the whole leadership of a School is prepared to take the time to examine how they lead in this sort of way, it can only make their working relationships more open, improve their common sense of purpose and lead to a happier and more efficient working environment.

Mike spent a thoroughly worthwhile day with us, giving senior staff an “inspector’s eye view” on lessons, pastoral and extra-curricular activities as well as casual moments at break, lunch and the end of the day. It was invaluable to see how inspectors will pick up on evidence. Mike provided an excellent briefing to middle leaders, making clear why the inspection needs to be taken seriously and also showing with encouraging optimism how the process is an opportunity to demonstrate with pride how effective the school is.

  I think the most helpful thing was the opportunity to talk through sensitive matters to an objective person far removed from the situation, with the added security of knowing it was a confidential conversation.

Informed, approachable people who are skilful in mixing types of activities and picking the right level for the participants -  informed and informative, they developed trust within the group and made it fun.

  I enjoyed working with Mike over the course of a few months on a leadership and management review.
